Wow, you ladies have come up with an awesome idea and done an amazing job, the blog spot looks really good!! I've been a little out of the loop lately, but I'd definitely be up for hosting a play-date.

I have some toys for babies (Austin's age -- 9 months), but I could definitely use some fun activity ideas for entertaining the toddlers - I don't really have much experience with kids (except for my own..haha)

Talk to you all soon!

Hi Nicole,

My mom treated us to a book of play ideas for various age-groups. She asked that I pass it along to playgroup...so I know she'd love it if you took a look! You are welcome to borrow it anytime. =)

I am making a switch for Olivia to see a Dr off base or to start seeing a Pediatrician at Naval Hospital. Does anyone see off base Dr now for their kids? On base Dr’s any good ones…? We’ve been just taking her to the Family Practice group Dr’s and that’s not going to continue any longer.
Thanks, Britt

I went to the JRC building today and had the Tricare folks switch over Olivia from Fam Practice to Peids Dr's on base...this was my only choice by the by...for all of you to know as well. New policy is that all on base and within 30 miles of base must use CPNH Dr's for everything unless in the case of an emergency. So, I asked about Dr McLean, I was told that Dr is 2 things - leaving very soon and not available. So you all that need to sign on to use a Dr know you gotta use the on base Dr's, unless otherwise noted and as I have heard tell the wonderful Dr McLean is moving on soon, sorry to hear that one. Thanks all for the comments.

Connections anyone?
We're looking for an opportunity that will allow our family to live and work/volunteer in Latin America next summer. If anyone has a connection to an individual or organization that might enjoy having a family to do anything from construction to teach English to helping organize grassroots organizations, please let me know. Thank you!

Hi! can anyone recommend a good last minute babysitter? My sister is in town and we were thinking about possibly going to see the Tropic Thunder movie on Sunday. I normally take Austin to Fisher Ctr. but since it's a sunday evening that won't work!

If anyone has any good recommendations for a sitter, it would be much appreciated!

Hi! yet another question from me... Can anyone recommend a good veterinarian in the area?

I tried the on-base one and they don't allow you to bring children under the age of 10 into the clinic, which is a problem for me (they were also a little rude over the phone).

I've got 2 big rambunctious german shepherds, one who isn't exactly fond of veterinary care... Any recommendations would be awesome!

Thanks in advance,
Nicole

I've got to several vets in the past few years. I've always found the base vet inconvenient, especially now that I have Asaiah on hip.
We currently go to Mission Animal Hospital, about midway between the back and front gates on Mission Ave. They will match base vaccine prices, which helps, and can get you in pretty quickly.
I really liked ABC Vet in San Marcos but its just too far and was more difficult to get into.
Hope that helps!

I need a good dentist, anyone got one? Its for me, not the baby.

My dentist recommendation is: Dr. Randall Smith. He's located on Pier View Way and his number is 722-1451. His hygienists and receptionists are very nice and thorough. Pregnancy left me with lots of teeth problems, and I've never had a bad experience with Dr. Smith.
PS, If you schedule your appts for Thurs mornings, you get to enjoy the Farmer's Mkt as well!

Has anyone visited Yosemite? If so, do you have an lodge recommendations? We are heading there the first part of Thanksgiving week and are looking for options that don't break the bank!

Hello -- Can anyone recommend a good local(and decently priced) moving company around here?

Hubby is deploying again in a few weeks and I've decided to move back to Colorado for this one (so we can't go through TMO)... I'll be moving our house into storage in Oceanside. I need a company who will do both the packing and moving for me. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Nicole,

Try talking to Megan Kulawiak, megkulaw@hotmail.com. She's been working on the same thing and has even gotten some quotes from companies. Hopefully, she'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Sorry to hear that your hubby is leaving again so soon. I hope you all get a break after this one!
